MOTOR Transport
212 Squadron vehicles
We are extremely lucky to have a collection of vehicles which form 212's motor transport section.
'MISS B HAVIN'
Our 1943 Willys MB Jeep 'Miss B Havin' has been subject to a little TLC over the last couple of years and is currently looking at her best! She is normally seen along with her Jeep trailer which apart from carrying tents and all sorts of vital kit can also be used as a boat to ford rivers!
Group's Car
Belonging to our founder and Group Captain is our Officers Staff Car. This is the Hillman Minx, the most aristocratic of 212's vehicles. First introduced in 1932 it became one of the most popular cars of the 1930s in Britain. With a top speed of 59mph and a price new of £169, this model features the new style of grille, along with the opening boot lid first seen in 1937 and is of course resplendent in her full RAF livery, a stunning piece of automotive history.
'BETSY'
Here is 'Betsy"our other Jeep on the move, and looking absolutely "Spot On", a lovely example of a Jeep in action!
Jeeps were used for all types of jobs by the RAF during World War 2, from general purpose vehicles to "Follow Me" Jeeps guiding Bombers onto the correct runways for take-off. They were a true workhorse of the war.
